Knights Making History
Happen
November 25, 2009
For the third
consecutive year in a row, the Fleming Knights men's
basketball team has been recognized as one of the top ten
teams in Canada. The Knights currently sit on top of the
OCAA East Conference with an undefeated record of 10-0,
the team's best start in history, and good enough to be
ranked #3 in Ontario and #10 in Canada.
This Friday, the Knights will be putting their unblemished
record on the line against the #1 team in Ontario and
Canada, the St Lawrence Vikings (Kingston, ON). The game
will take place at Fleming's home court, the Peterborough
Sports and Wellness Centre. Tip off is scheduled for
8pm.
Arguably, this will be the biggest night in Fleming
College Basketball history. Not only will there be a great
basketball matchup, there will be another historical
moment taking place as the Knights will be retiring the
uniforms of men's basketball players Neil O'Sullivan and
Zeljko Vinkovich. Both are recognized as the major reasons
why Fleming has made such a dramatic turnaround from
league 'cellar dwellers' to 'powerhouses'.
"Neil and Zeljko are THE building blocks of any
success the program has seen over the past few
years", states head coach, Bill Crowdis.
"Without their dedication and hard work, the program
would not be in the position it is today". Not only
are the duo the top two scorers all-time at Fleming, they
set the tone for the chemistry and "family"
attitude that resounds amongst the players today. The
retirement ceremony will take place at half-time of the
men's basketball game versus St. Lawrence. View Neil and
Zeljko's bio's below:
